Holiday Creations and Fun at Liberty Village’s West ElmFun | Written on December 6, 2016
There are a lot of conveniences in Liberty Village that contribute to making life in our neighbourhood so enjoyable— great restaurants and cafés at every turn, our proximity to some of Toronto’s largest event venues and amenities for any number of tasks and errands. And then, of course, there’s the shopping! In addition to being a few minutes away from Exhibition Place (a frequent site for large scale markets and one of a kind shows), within our neighbourhood itself (as well as in the immediate vicinity of Liberty Village) there a host of unique and well-known stores and boutiques. From specialty shops to large retailers, it’s safe to say that we have it all in Liberty Village! When it comes to shopping for your home, Liberty Village’s West Elm furniture store is a well-known favourite. They’ve made our Live in Liberty blog in the past and we’re excited to once again make them a feature in a piece that highlights something awesome that is taking place in our neighbourhood.
It’s no small feat to make a house a home. From first time homeowners to long-term renters to those who fall somewhere in the middle, home decorating almost never feels complete. Whether it’s seasonal décor pieces or personalized tchotchkes, there are always items that you can add to a space to transform, enhance or revitalize it, or simply to make it more “you.” On Wednesday, December 7, West Elm at 109 Atlantic Avenue in Liberty Village invites you to attend their Holiday Wreath workshop. It’s a great opportunity to learn how to create an item for the holidays (and beyond) that is festive and that also matches the colours and look of your home. And you don’t have to be a DIY guru to participate in this event. If you’ve dabbled in the wreath-creating world before or if you’re a first-timer, you’ll be able to join in and learn how to create an item that you’ll use and love.
Here’s how the Holiday Wreath Workshop at West Elm will work. Liberty Village’s Blossom Moments and Blossom and Bloom (located in Toronto) will have everything arranged for participants beforehand, and everything you need to create the perfect wreath will be provided. All the items will be fresh, dried and organic. All you have to do is arrive prepared to have fun! Learn skills that you’ll be able to use for a lifetime of wreath making and, who knows, maybe next year this time you’ll be hosting your own holiday wreath making party with friends and family!
This event at West Elm comes with another incredible bonus! In addition to honing your wreath-making skills, this holiday workshop also includes a healthy portion of delicious treats. As an extension of the design and décor theme of this event, participants will also take part in a cookie decorating workshop. Now you’ll be able to kick that holiday wreath-making party up a notch by showing off your holiday cookie-decorating skills as well! Yum, please! As with the wreath-making, the ingredients and supplies will be provided to participants. The theme will be sugar and spice cookies. These really are good skills to learn that can come in handy for any number of occasions! The West Elm Wreath and Cookie Workshop is also a great opportunity to connect with neighbours, make new friends or spend time at a fun local event with family.
Hot chocolate and non-alcoholic beverages will be offered and the proceeds for this event will go to the SickKids Foundation. The Holiday Wreath and Cookie Workshop at West Elm will run from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and attendees are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the event. Tickets are $75 and include all materials and supplies for both activities.
There are lots of opportunities to get out and have a good time in our neighbourhood this season. This is certainly one that shouldn’t be missed.
