MorsoMe: Delicious Food to Go in our Area

Neighbourhood | Written on November 15, 2016

We never tire of introducing you to incredible dining options in and around Liberty Village. MorsoMe, the focus of this Live in Liberty blog, is just that – an incredible dining option in our area! With new restaurants and eateries opening every day, there’s no denying our city’s high appreciation and enjoyment of good food. And, with good food, the proof is always in the tasting. You can always tell the difference between wholesome dishes made with care, using quality ingredients, and dishes that fall below that bar. At MorsoMe, you’ll savour the mouth-watering flavours and the fresh ingredients that come together to produce wonderful dishes. We spoke with MorsoMe’s Audrey Nesbitt to find out more about this newly opened Italian food to go establishment and to learn the secrets behind its early success. Here’s some of what we discovered.

MorsoMe opened its doors at 850 King Street West in October, 2016 and there’s already been a ton of buzz around their delicious menu items and great, friendly take-out and catering service. The name of the food to go establishment is a play on the Italian word, morso. “Morso” translates to “bite” in English so, their name can be thought of as an invitation to head to their food to go establishment when you need to “grab a bite”. Well, we don’t mind if we do. With such a great location and such incredible dishes to choose from, that’s one offer we’ll be taking them up on again, and again, and again. And, on the topic of location, MorsoMe is less than a 10-minute walk from our Liberty Central By The Lake Two location in Liberty Village! For residents and businesses in and close to Liberty Village, it’s in a really convenient place for lunchtime and evening drop-ins or to get delicious catering for office events, parties or other gatherings. As Audrey tells it, the location became available at the right time, so in reality, “the location chose us”. However it came to be, it’s a delicious treat to have you in our area MorsoMe!

Let’s focus now on the main reason that our neighbourhood is developing a love affair with this Italian eatery: their fantastic cuisine! MorsoMe offers a range of time-honoured classic dishes as well as several modern favourites. We’ll note off the bat that many of their menu options also include gluten free alternatives. Their takeout menu offerings include appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas and stir frys. Prices range from $1.75 for the fried cauliflower appetizer and $1.85 for the potato croquette appetizer to salads that start at $4.99, sandwich options that start at $7.25, 12” pizzas for $9.99 and up, pasta dishes for $8.99 and up and stir frys beginning at $10.99. You can imagine why choosing a favourite dish could be difficult. Audrey tells us that everything on the MorsoMe menus is recommended, and incredibly delicious (and speaking from experience, we know that couldn’t be more true).

In terms of popularity, the meatball sandwich, the mac n cheese and the chicken parmesan sandwich have quickly become customer favourites. They’re facing stiff competition though from the pizzas and pastas (both gluten free and regular selections) and the muffuletta. And if you’ve never tried a muffuletta, you have been denying yourself a world of deliciousness! It is an Italian deli sandwich with salami, mortadella, provolone and an olive salad spread. Have we mentioned how spectacular it is? There are also daily specials available. Be sure to follow MorsoMe on Facebook and Twitter for information and updates on their specials.

MorsoMe’s catering menu is just as mouth-watering and impressive as their takeout menu. Options include sandwich platters, hot and cold appetizers, salads, pastas and meat entrées. Each catering menu item clearly indicates the number of people the dish will serve and, where applicable, the number of pieces each person in a group would get based on that order.
