Movie Night in Liberty Village Returns for the SummerFun | Written on June 8, 2015
Liberty Village locals, one of our neighbourhood’s most loved summer staples is back this year! Movie night in the park returns for another season with a beloved cult classic. Ghostbusters will kick off the summer series on Friday, June 26th.
For those who aren’t familiar with the film, Ghostbusters celebrated its 30-year anniversary last year. It follows three, newly unemployed parapsychology experts— Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis— who start a ghost removal service. With a cast line-up that boasts such well-known comedic legends, there’s no question about the number of great one-liners and jokes that ensue. The characters also have great on-screen chemistry which has been since been noted as one of the main factors in the film’s critical and commercial success when it was released in 1984. It grossed more than US$240 million when it was released. Movies of this nature have a timelessness and whether you saw Ghostbusters once, 30 years ago or a dozen times since its release, there is something light and loveable about this film that makes it just as enjoyable each time.
Movie Night in Liberty Village is free so take a stroll down to Liberty Park at 71 East Liberty Street for the 8:30pm showing of Ghostbusters. Movie Night is sponsored by the Liberty Village Resident’s Association and provides a great opportunity to get to know your neighbours or to relax in Liberty Village on a Friday night. Enjoy!
