Our Ideal Weekend in Liberty Village

Fun | Written on February 13, 2015

We won’t lie, we like to sleep in on the weekend. We deserve it after a long work week! Once those sunny rays peek through the curtains and reach our faces we know it’s time to get up however. Living in Liberty Village makes for a perfect frosty winter morning. If you’re looking for a real community feel, this is the neighbourhood for you and we’ve created an itinerary to get you acquainted with it on a relaxing weekend.

Start your day… with a chai latte or an affogato (if you’re having a cheat day) from Aroma (120 Lynn Williams Street). Their traditional Shashukas are as good as homemade and ambiance is fantastic for enjoying a soothing kick off to a perfect morning.

Say hello…to the rising sun at Tula South (171 East Liberty Street). The space offers classes dedicated to hot yoga, hatha and kundalini and pilates classes of various levels. If you weren’t awake before, you will be now!

Spend quality time with your dog…in one of Liberty Village’s Parks. There are three parks to choose from, Lamport Stadium Park, Liberty Village Park, and Bill Johnston Park. Let your furry friend lead the way and hang out in the pup playground of your choice!

Prepare for tonight…by grabbing some locally sourced appetizers at Monforte Cheese (125 Jefferson Avenue). What better snack to go with your wine and Netflix? The Liberty Village location is an outpost of the Stratford-based artisanal cheese manufacturers, the Monforte Dairy Company. Don’t stop there however—you can incorporate the delicious cheeses into your daily meals as well.
