Rock Out at the 2016 Mad Decent Block PartyNews & Events | Written on August 16, 2016
Fort Lauderdale, Brooklyn, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Dallas, Denver, Berkeley and Los Angeles. That isn’t just a list of some of North America’s most well-known and frequently visited cities, they are also locations for this year’s Mad Decent Block Party! What’s more, the only stop in Canada for this incredible music event is a quick 10-minute walk from our location in Liberty Village. The 2016 Mad Decent Block Party comes to Toronto on Friday, August 19 with a show at the Fort York Garrison Commons!
There are lots of reasons to be excited about this event! In the same way that a band might go on the road or an act might tour, the Mad Decent Block Party is an annual event that heads from city to city across North America, and features an impressive list of headliners! The performances are always incredible and sometimes, even days before the event starts more performers are added to the line-up! There really is an energy and excitement that comes packaged with the annual Mad Decent Block Party!
For this one day music fest in our city, the list of headliners is nothing short of amazing! Music lovers will not only recognize these names, but if you’re anything like us, seeing them listed here will surely bring back memories of epic concerts and festivals with popular tracks spun by these talented artists!
Are you ready? The 18 and older crowd at this year’s Mad Decent Block Party can look forward to performances by:
Diplo – an American DJ, record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and record executive who has been a part of the music groups: Major Lazer and Jack U. Diplo has worked with Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Madonna, Britney Spears, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Chris Brown, Usher, Snoop Dogg, M.I.A. and many more music industry heavyweights! One of our favourite collaborations by Diplo is his award-winning track with Justin Bieber – Where Are U Now.
Bishu – Bishu’s eargasmic music offers fans a mixture of hip hop, electronic and trap music. In one word, the sounds are original. Bishu has also worked with several other artists, including Diplo! Head over to SoundCloud to check out some of Bishu’s latest (and really hot) tracks.
Grandtheft – This DJ and music producer has been working in the music industry for more than a decade and he regularly tours throughout Canada and the US. You can expect to enjoy electronic dance music (EDM), hip hop and trap music when Grandtheft hits the stage at the Mad Decent Block Party.
Louis the Child – While this music duo hasn’t been on the music scene as long as many of the other performers at this year’s Mad Decent Block Party, they are no strangers to playing big venues. They have opened for artists such as Madeon and The Chainsmokers and have played at Coachella and the Electric Forest Festival.
Marshmello – Playing in the same circles as Skrillex and Diplo, this masked DJ and producer has been attracting fans with his eclectic mix of electronic and trap music. He’s become a breakout EDM star in recent years and the “marshmello” mask that he wears when he performs has certainly had the Internet and audiences all over wanting to know more about him and his mixing skills.
Nghtmre X Slander – You’ll definitely feel the music vibrating through you, from head to toe when Nghtmare X Slander hit the stage at the Mad Decent Block Party. They specialize in trap music and are known to regularly play to sold out concert venues and festivals across North America.
Sleepy Tom – This Canadian DJ and producer never disappoints. He has remixed tracks for several incredible artists and always gets the crowd going with his dance mixes.
Slushii – Known to both Canadian and US audiences, Slushii released his debut album, the aptly titled, “Brain Freeze”, a few months ago. He is a bassist and DJ known for trap music.
And that’s the incredible line-up so far at this year’s Mad Decent Block Party! We told you it would be impressive! Villagers, don’t let this incredible music event in our area pass you by.
